Season:
Autumn 1940
Weather:
Rathlin is experiencing very pleasant weather at the moment: the harsh bite of winter has yet to sweep down on the island, and so far sunny skies with the odd wispy cloud and a crisp fall breeze are the current norm, which is appreciated by both islanders and Germans alike.

-Plot-

Island Invaded
A World War II RPG

“I have been informed that the island of Rathlin, province of Great Britain, is considered a likely candidate for German invasion within the next two weeks…”

It is with these words that on a late night on May 24th, 1940, Senator Charles Torrington opens an emergency meeting called in response to recent events threatening to turn the world he and the other inhabitants of a small island in the middle of the English Channel know upside down. The British troops defending Rathlin have left abruptly. A mere seven miles away in occupied France, German troops are preparing to sail. Rathlin is abuzz with talk of invasion.

Evacuation is made possible for the remaining civilians, but only a few are able to leave. Undefended and seemingly abandoned by far-off England, Rathlin waits in dread for the inevitable. The Germans are coming, and they need the Channel Islands to complete their ultimate goal: the invasion of England.

Will Rathlin crumble and completely succumb to the might of the German Wehrmacht? Or, in the darkness of occupation, will it reveal a forbidden spark of resistance? You may decide the fate of the war itself by your choice.

Didn't someone say war is a nasty business? Quite good for promotion though.

NOTICE: NEW RATHLIN LAWS AND CONSEQUENCES AS HEREBY ENFORCED BY THE OCCUPYING FORCES OF THE GERMAN REICH (English Version)

To: All citizens of the island of Rathlin, formerly a province of the British Isles and now occupied by the German Reich
From: Kommandant Oberst Baron Karl von Fuchs

All citizens are required to recognize and abide by the following laws as of 7th July, 1940. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action by the island's police force and/or any branch of the German forces occupying Rathlin.

1. All motorized vehicles including personal automobiles, lorries, buses, motorcycles, etc. are hereby banned. You may obtain a permit from German headquarters on weekdays if your vehicle has been deemed necessary for public use. Failure to present a valid permit at the inquiry of a German soldier will result in being jailed and immediate confiscation of the vehicle.

2. Citizens who own a sailing vessel of any type must dock it in the main harbour under the supervision of a German officer. Passes may be obtained for fishing, although supervision will be required for those who choose to apply for one. Vessels found beyond the harbour will be confiscated and their owners persecuted.

3. No Rathlin citizen, including members of the police force, may carry a weapon. Any citizen found in possession of a weapon will be put on trial and will have the weapon confiscated.

4. All Rathlin citizens must be off the streets by 2130 hours (9:30 PM). German soldiers will be patrolling from that time until dawn and have orders to shoot any Rathlin citizens found on the streets.

5. English sterling currency is hereby absolved and may no longer be used for transactions or any form of payment. Citizens wishing to exchange their money for German Reichsmarks may do so at the Rathlin bank.

6. Trespassing on German military property (includes the harbour docks, airfield, barracks, island outposts, and other German residences) without the supervision of a German soldier is strictly forbidden. All trespassers will be shot on sight.

Any questions may be directed to German headquarters.

Signed,
Oberst Baron Karl von Fuchs
Deustche Kommandant Von Der Britischen Kanalinseln Von Rathlin

Went the day well?
We died and never knew
But, well or ill.
Freedom, we died for you
Went the day well?
